Juggling Balls
With uncertainty around travel abroad and waiting for confirmations, it’s been one of those weeks of juggling dates for shoots and projects along with presenter availability. Thankfully it’s a good problem to have and we are working hard to make things work as much as is possible!
Ideal World
On a quieter note – once again the lovely Hayley Sparkes has been shinning at Ideal World. She presented an absolutely brilliant 30 minute live show this week representing a brand called Walkfit. Thanks go to Smart Response TV for this fantastic opportunity and we look forward to seeing Hayley back on air next month!
We’re also delighted to be working together with the team at Brickwall. It always such a pleasure and our presenters love their projects. Daniel Robert Leigh is confirmed for a video shoot next week and is busy learning his script. We’re also waiting on final confirmation of dates for Frankie Vu and Emma-Louise for the next project they are co-presenting for BBC Careers. This one is definitely a juggling act for everyone with availability and dates that have moved. I have no doubt that we’ll get there in the end!
With everyone still holding their breath for a second series of HOW. We do hope that on behalf of Frankie Vu we’ll be able to bring some positive news over the coming weeks.
The Importance of Self-Tapes
Thinking of HOW – firstly Frankie’s showreel and as importantly the self-tape he was requested to record, as part of the audition process, was absolutely key in taking him to the next stage of the audition process. In fact, self-tapes have been in demand this week. In particular with two exciting requests for Frankie and Daniel Robert Leigh to record for commercials. Here’s hoping for good news on the back of these.
Meet the Agent
It was a subject I covered in a ‘Meet the agent’ Zoom session with the TV Training Academy recently. Always a real pleasure to be invited to talk about the role an agent plays in helping find work for presenters and to give tips that will help newer presenters help find their way in the industry.
Self-Tape Guide
As a reminder here’s a guide to follow to make sure your self-tape in recorded in the correct way hopefully helping to give you a better chance to make that shortlist:
- Film in good lighting, have a clean background and please film in LANDSCAPE
- Don’t forget to do an ident – name, agent (if you have one) and the project name. Read the brief and any instructions given carefully
- If there isn’t a request frame yourself as a mid-shot, so your facial expressions can be seen clearly
- Unless guided to sit down or move into shot, I would recommend that you stand up
- Make sure you look directly at the lens
